Seafood Shack “The Hidden Gem”
An intimate place in a cozy space located in Artesia, California. The Seafood Shack is a restaurant that I frequent often. I refer to it as the “Shack.” Once you step in, you’ll be welcomed and served immediately upon arrival by their friendly staff Rose, Eunice, Crystal and Raquel. The owners of Seafood Shack are Ting Tse, Mov Ly, and Kim Ung.
It’s pretty ironic that the start of my relationship and love for the Shack started one cold night in October 2007 when I had ended up trying the chicken wings because of a 1& ½ hour wait I had with another restaurant just 3 doors away. The owner at the time, Don, gave me the wings for free as I having a beer and waiting around. It is the ownership that makes all the difference for this restaurant which caters to the local community of Artesia and Cerritos. I’m glad the current owners are every bit as warm and friendly as the previous owners were in the past. Do you see how one little action turned into a loyal customer who has brought many a friend and is now writing an article as an invitation for more potential customers?
The Sea Food Shack specializes in Cajun style Louisiana food. Clams, crawfish, and shrimp are all popular items on the menu. They also serve steak and chicken for you meat eaters out there. Beignets, which are French Donuts with powdered sugar, make a sinfully delectable snack or desert. I just tried them as they are new to the menu.
Decked out with 5 large plasma TV’s in an intimate setting, the Seafood Shack is a great place to enjoy watching your favorite sporting programs. They host a beer and wine bar at the Shack. And during the Laker games, all of the different beers they serve costs you only a measly $2. And if the TV is on mute, you’ll hear the latest music hip and popular music playing throughout the restaurant. I must say they have a collection my cd’s on hand and play them upon request by me. So for me, it’s almost like having all the comforts of home with the atmosphere of a friendly little bar and without having to deal with the long wait to be seated or waiting for a seat to open at the bar. This is why I call it the “Hidden Gem.”
The Seafood Shack is currently open for dinner only Monday through Thursday from 5pm to 10pm. On Fridays they are open from 5pm to 11pm. Saturdays they open at 12pm and stay open until 11pm. Lastly, on Sundays, the Shack is open from 12pm to 10pm. So come on by and enjoy the experience. Chances are that you’ll be coming back and may also be part of the Seafood Shack family sometime soon.
For the readers of A-Lister Magazine, if you spend just $20 on food (drinks not included) and mention to the staff of the Seafood Shack that A-Lister Magazine or Neil sent you, you will receive 1 FREE pound of crawfish or shrimp.
In the meantime, go round up your family and friends and meet me at the Shack.
